KYRE is a women-led, youth-driven initiative empowering adolescents in Ethiopia to prevent gender-based violence and build safer communities. Through education, peer learning, and creativity, we nurture a generation that knows its rights — and defends them with courage.
Know Your Rights Ethiopia (KYRE) is a women-led, youth-driven initiative rooted in the belief that every adolescent deserves to live free from violence, fear, and silence.
We work to empower adolescent girls and boys in Ethiopia — equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, and collective power to recognize gender-based violence (GBV), challenge harmful norms, and advocate for their rights.
Grounded in feminist values and community care, our work is not about speaking for young people — it’s about creating the conditions for them to speak for themselves. Through transformative education, creative expression, and collective action, KYRE builds spaces where adolescents can question, lead, and imagine safer futures for themselves and their peers. We believe that rights education is not just information — it is liberation
